Fatal flaw
Moment of irreconcilable difference awakening
The downward spiral turning point
The unforgivable thing
She models my worst behavior
My worries misunderstood then played back as broken spirit
Dark epiphany
The end, far in the future, began last night
Happiness precedes the downfall
The shift to entropy occurs out of time
Hope masks hopelessness
The pretense wellbeing against the backdrop of little or no concrete evidence
Painstakingly erected over years of concentrated effort and skill, it collapses with little effort
Everything falls apart
Obsolescent relationship
When humor fails
The death of spirit as worst fears are realized
Resilience is no longer an option
All good things become signs of failure
Resentment piles up
Each well-intentioned act of kindness becomes a sad memory of a failed relationship
Turning inward as a last defense
Indifference as a way of life
The peace in giving up
The other's decision to quit
I want to talk
'Everything falls apart'. I recall the Yeats poem 'The second Coming', where the centre cannot hold. Some thought provoking lines in this description of a failing relationship.
Tuning inward! ! As a last defence. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.

A sad story of disappointment in love, well articulated and nicely brought forth with clarity of thought and mind. An insightful poem with strong emotions.
wow this is an extremely emotional expression here, but its really interesting and I love it, can you please check out my poem " I seek a friend" I thought you might like it. thank you.
Dear Poet @Petals Azureblue, I agree with you that 'Love should never be a painful thing to do...' - but sadly it is, not too infrequently, these days!
A poem with a wonderful and appropriate caption and a heart breaking conclusion. Congratulations to the poet on this poem's selection as the MPOD! Those who have had the misfortune of having a failed relationship, will hear much of their heart's echo in the poem.

Deeply piercing and gripping piece on conflict and indifference, that stalemate where neither party wins (or loses) . Excellently written.
