Mountain Side Poem by Christan Bowen

Mountain Side

A lonely scholar
Who's straight from the holler
Went to the city
And made a few dollars
Now he lives in total bliss
Turkey sandwiches
and Sierra Mist

His dream is
To catch fish from the stream
Serve it up
With white rice and lima beans
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes too
Wash it all down with Mountain Dew

He went his whole life
Without a wife
Didn't play the lottery
or roll the dice
He played it smart
Didn't pay any fees
Now he has a house
With apple trees

Now he lives where
Time moves slow
On his land
Where the green grass grows
Under blue skies
and beautiful rainbows
He's the smartest man
You're ever going to know
