Move On Poem by Rodney Dufault

Move On

Rating: 5.0

I just want to move on,
and be rid of the pain;
Now that my youth's gone,
and I'll be a kid not again.

There's much to improve on,
and still hid in my brain;
Like a love that's too strong,
but if undid would I gain?

I feel I didn't choose wrong
when I stood amid the insane;
I stood up to the abuse long
before I forbid to be slain.

Even wanted to try the noose on;
Everything was turbid and rain.
Letha filled my heart with true song,
and everything was more lurid than plain.

That's why this is where you belong,
and why I commit to remain.
Every day begins a new dawn,
and if you're in it - I'll maintain.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Had a really violent younger life. Not sure how I'm even alive...Well, I have a wonderful wife, and I'm sure a bit of that's her fault. Haha. Having seizures now, and the pain just never seems to end. Now that we know what's wrong with me though, I'm feeling better and being able to move forward with some things finally. Most of my poetry is filled with profanity, well not filled, but enough so I can't post here. Lot's on Facebook if you want to check it out. I consider myself to be a decent poet, I just like all words, even the bad ones. I only use them where I feel they should be...for emphasis. Thanks for reading.
