Mum Poem by Danielle Deery

You said you’d never read my poems
So here’s one for you to read
I hope that you enjoy it
Because I worked very hard indeed

Today is really rather special
It’s a day to focus on you
You see a gift doesn’t matter
If the love there isn’t true

Thank you for being there for us
And loving who we are
Thank you for always helping
You really are a star

We know you’re always proud of us
In whatever that we do
We know that if we make a wish
You’ll help it to come true

You love us both the same
Never one on top
You’ll always be the one who cares
And that will never stop

You’ve helped us to grow from babies
And never given in
Surely that shows strength alone
Nobody else can win

I hope today is special
And full of everything you wish
We’re going to go out later
Where you can choose the dish

I hope you liked the poem
I wrote it for my Mum
Because you see I love her
She really is my sun

So keep glowing brightly
For everyone to see
Because I have a Mum I’m proud of
And one that’s proud of me
