Mutual Insomnia Poem by David Nelson Bradsher

Mutual Insomnia

Agreed, tonight was not my best
performance, but forgive the gaffe
and stifle your insulting laugh.
It surely does affect my rest,
and for a man so short of sleep,
I may be too far gone to keep.

Forget me as a partner then,
and just re-label me a friend,
but don't expect my wounds to mend
enough for you to talk of men
who gave you all that you desired.

Besides, I'm grouchy when I'm tired,
and your confusing appetites
are not the stuff of restful nights.

Wonderful, just how I feel at times. Must be my age. Colin J...
