'My Basket' Poem by Pushpinder Kaur

'My Basket'

My Basket

The heart undergoes many a pangs
Many a leaps and gaps
as children go
Back to their worlds of Uni and work
in order to carve a niche for themselves
In this, big wide world;

There sinks in an overwhelming silence
The mind knows- they have gone
Yet, the non- believer heart still looks
For them
The eye still searching…

Only silence seems to talk
While emptiness prevails
and the room haunts.
The folds of the sheet
show they were just there
But no, they are now…

There,
back into their own spheres;
The one message, "Mom, I have just landed! "
makes the heart take a leap again
This time, of joy-
As the words flow from the lips-
"God bless you now and always! "

The mind settles down to wait
For the next time…

One thought that lingers
giving anchorage- answers the silence;

"God I leave my basket in your Hands! "
