My Beloved Loved Me First Poem by Cindy Wright

My Beloved Loved Me First

I am a peace advocate, that's who I be,
a good ole country girl standing before you is what you see.
I've chosen a life online for the world to see
all thoughts I hold, and love I give to all free.
He found me through a friend indeed,
asked my friendship which I did not answer with great speed.
Once accepted, his profile I did check,
time and time again, cautiously chatting
slowly seeing a flirtationship build.
No! I will not stand for that, away you go.
Two weeks later and guess who is back,
Apologies are given, both retry friendship,
and time continues on. Closer and closer
until other means of communication are open.
Now in each others eyes, technology has made possible to look.
He cast out his bait and like a fish, I bit the hook.
Two years later, finally heard those words I've longed to hear
From finding me as his friend, to gently coaxing me near,
My beloved loved me first,
Cautiously taming this wild cat upon his gaze,
each time we talk, its my heart he sets ablaze..
