My Bestiary Poem by Jon Yttri

My Bestiary

Here's some info I will share:
Some of my best friends have hair.
Not only on top of head,
But their whole hide, it must be said.
The dog will always wag her tail.
The cat will purr, without fail.
They always have a way of saying
What they want, without praying.
They'll always move to the sight
Of the need they want make right.
I often tell my cat, for sure
Not to scratch the furniture.
The dog thinks that it doesn't hurt
To roll around in the dirt.
Were it not for pet I own
I would always be all alone.
Were it not for pets I know
I would have no place to go.
Does owning pets really make sense
When you consider the expense?
Without a pet, I would be bored
And that's something I can't afford.
