My? Birthday Poem by Carol Pelletier

My? Birthday

My? birthday is too darned near!
I'm dreading that day, let me make it clear.
When I was younger I had no clue
That age would change my point of view.
I thought I'd lick the fear of age
And gracefully turn life's yearly page.
It was easy when my book was small.
I could simply ignore life's aging call.
I walked along at my chosen stride.
Unaware of the fact that I would one day hide
my face in dismay of the brutal truth.
I'm what sages consider getting long of the tooth!
