Your biography, Lauren, states: 'If you have any advice/ wisdom please do share.' So, I will take you up on that, at least regarding this particular piece. 'Most of the time I'm not sure if I'm alive or dead'. If you're not sure, I would suggest that only the living are not sure (this is my opinion, anyway) . 'make sure no one can tell what goes on inside my mind.' If that is so, then I would suggest that you find another avocation than poetry, since writing poetry does, to some extent (and not necessarily in any 'confessional' way) , mean you are expressing what is going on inside your mind. That is one of the aspects to writing, and not just poetry. The above piece is written, more or less, as a 'prose poem'. The theme(s) you touch on have significance. Even though I may sound critical, I would suggest you continue writing, to find your most authentic voice. For poets, this does not always come instantly. Sometimes, it needs time and effort to find. :)
