My Brother Poem by Marilyn Lott

My Brother

Oh, how many memories, Rod
Are stored within my heart
And you are such a huge part
You were there right from the start

I always looked up to you, you know
For you were always there for me
You taught me to spell so young
Taught me to play so creatively

For we always found a way
To entertain ourselves
Out of absolutely nothing
Like busy ingenious elves

Oh sure, we had our problems
A mom who was often sick
But if I had my choice for a brother
It is you I would forever pick

Many years have drifted by now
So many chapters in our lives
I’ve had several husbands
And you’ve had a couple of wives

But no matter what has happened
Or how many bumps in the road
You were the best brother to grow with
For you helped me carry the load!
