My Candle Burns For You Poem by Susan Cunningham

My Candle Burns For You

In darkest hour...sat the Light... I knew not as I wept,
but through the glow of candle bright, His promise would be kept.
I waited as I heard His voice to tell me when and why,
but all I heard was "Walk this way, I'll tell you by and by".
A silent, frozen tear I cried because the heart was blue, and yet the
warmest love I felt still whispered "this is true".
I raged at nothing and fell to the ground beneath my wounded pride
"You must repent, you must give in and know life's been a lie".
As on we went the Voice and I throughout the struggle long
I prayed and gave my soul to Him and heard His joyous song.
The power that surrounded me was heavy with despair
but still the small, sweet voice had said "I AM here, My Love, I care".
And so as morning met with grace this body tired and worn
a hue of hope shown as the sun... refreshing as the dew,
I heard Him say " in deepest night, My cradle burns for you".
