My Chloe Poem by Haley Akin

My Chloe

*a chloe by definition is a young green shoot of grass.

A young blade of grass
She grows before my eyes
So graceful is her dance
As she reaches for the sky

I shelter her from rain
Protect her through the storm
Show her what is good
As she develops her own form

I teach her how to reach
Above into the stars
For her I do my best
No matter if hard or far

We bask in the warm sunlight
Slowly growing each new day
I dread the future thought
That she will soon go on her way

That day she will be tall
Standing firm all on her own
I will love her like a chloe
Even when... she is all grown...

My little girl was also born in 1983 and I loved her so and dreaded the day she would leave, It was a worry I did not have to pass through Haley, I now have two of the most beautiful grandkids anyone could want. God bless Juan
