My Depression - Poem by Ashley Unknown

I listen to sad songs,
while bathing in tears.
I stay up all night,
and sleep when day nears.

I hope for my laughter,
but don't think it will come.
I have trouble thinking,
and people call me dumb.

I want to be happy,
but I can't find the way.
I've always been unhappy,
while my life fades away...

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I suffer from depression, and it sucks. Writing sad things comes easy to me, I don't know how to write happy things.

I've just read your poem and am glad to say that it's a wonderful one, but sorry to say that it has left me with a lump in my throat. It's a very, very sad poem.
You are only 17 but you seem to carry a mountain of sadness in your bosom.
    'I want to be happy,
but I can't find the way.
    I've always been unhappy,
while my life fades away... '
    Very sad!
Your note makes my heart feel heavy.
