I meander through my dreamy mind
Echoes of life and memories intertwined
I disconnect from my world of disdain
And I wander where freedom still reigns
My inner eye opens wide to see
A raft of visions, floating free
Coloured shapes in a cloudless sky
Lost souls adrift that refused died
Casting light on the shadowy land
The thirst of the desert, blowing sand
Chasing thoughts in canyons of night
The sea raging against the dying light
Trees that speak of ancient times
Words that are lost and no longer rhyme
Ideas fall from my page and fly away
While other thoughts escape from the day
But my dreamy mind not always there
As reality serves its ugly fare
So I return to writing my poetic lines
To dream again in another time
