My Elder Brother Dear… Poem by Dr John Celes

My Elder Brother Dear…

Yes, indeed 'Tis a wily world;
Trials, travail will come;
We put our trust in Jesus Lord,
Whom we always welcome.

No worrying can help you a bit;
Just laugh worries away;
Fervent prayers will keep us fit
And satan goes his way.

Our faith in God must not turn weak;
He is our Master sole;
A bird does everything by beak;
A rat lives in a hole!

Why bother about little things
That takes us by surprise?
In Christ, we are all queens and kings;
At dawn, the sun will rise!

Just count the blessings that God gave,
So far in earthly life;
God gives us houses, not a cave,
And helps us in our strife.

God tests our faith in times like this;
Keep praising His good name;
He plans to give you better bliss,
And more wealth and fame.

Are there not people worse than us,
Who lost their hard-earned things?
Through sorrows, God will sooner bless
And give us good tidings.

You were not caught in eye of storm
And escaped Nature's wrath;
The Maker will give back your form,
And walk you in right path.

When God provides for creatures small,
Will He abandon man?
With soul, we ought to hear His call
To pray, increase life-span.

God forgets not the good you did;
His grace will wonders work;
Have you not done what God had bid?
Faithless, we turn berserk.

The hymns you wrote and sang will bring
You favors from the Lord;
Your good deeds, charity will sing
To God, and bring His Word.

Worrying can make you sicker much
And will not help things solve;
Just put your trust in Christ Lord's touch
And problems will resolve.

Though aging, our wisdom is great;
With patience, we must pray;
All righteous enter narrow Gate
By walking in God's way.

So, talk and laugh and smile again;
Your anguish will abate;
When sun or rain, we do complain
By habit any date.

With faith and hope in Jesus Lord,
We run our race on earth;
Man lives by God's each uttered word,
And is not scared of death.

So, buck up dear brother of mine,
And gaze into the sky;
God's silver-lining clouds divine
Will prevent your heart's cry.

The God of love just loves you still
And will not forsake you;
God heals whenever you fall ill,
But praying, you must do.

So stop worrying and be cheerful,
My elder brother dear;
Lent is the time to be careful
And shrug off every fear.

More miracles will come your way;
You only have to pray;
God does not sleep by night or day
But keeps evils at bay!

Dear Annan, you'll be fine soon!
Today is your wedding day.
