My Emotions' Lament Poem by Lauren Pandy

My Emotions' Lament

Is there such a truth as forgetting how to break
When this life that surrounds you is just too hard to take?
I'm doing everything in my ability to stay strong
So that people like you have what it takes to go on
But when the time comes where you've all moved up and out
It always feels like I'm the one that you forget about
Please don't forget about the one who's there for you
Do you remember, amidst the lies, only I was true?
I can only give so much before I start to fall
And when I need someone to lean on, you've never been my wall
Many days I've lived my life to walk another mile
All I've really ever wanted was that one true friend
Who will never leave me even when our world ends
Apparently, that is the only thing in short supply
that everyone is looking for that money cannot buy
I hope that others see me as a person of true worth
A woman whose character is second to none on the Earth
Why is it so easy to be there for other people
But when you are in need of help, their attempts are oh so feeble?
Everybody has a story - Do I know yours? Do you know mine?
Lives would be easier to live if, for love, we took the time
