My Failure Helps Me Keep Going

MY FAILURE HELPS ME KEEP GOING

My failure helps me keep going
Were it not for my failure
I might be content to retire
I might be happy
With what I have done
But as a failure
I go on trying

True it is hard to believe in myself
But then I never wholly have
And perhaps in trying further
I will add ‘additional humiliation’

But I go on anyway
Secretly hoping
I will do in my very last years
What I could not do all along

I of course do not really believe this
But I go on anyway
