My Faithful Steed Poem by J.B. LeBuert

My Faithful Steed

Out riding on my faithful steed,
Not a care in the world, or a need.
Just galloping along throughout the day;
We went our way, stopping often, just to play.

My horse, my friend, my only love;
Thank the Lord from high above.
Out rang a shot, I wondered why?
Who knew someone was about to die?

The bullet struck my only friend.
Not now, Lord, not again.
I was about to lose my greatest love;
Sent to me, from those above.

Then I awoke from this recurring dream,
Full of fright and full of steam.
I looked down, only to see,
That bullet had pierced, the heart of Me.

The blood ran quick from me like lightning.
It really wasn't all that frightening.
The only thought before I die?
Goodbye my love, my only friend, GOODBYE.
