My Fat Is Not Me: A Protest Poem by Richard St. Clair

My Fat Is Not Me: A Protest

Rating: 5.0

It may just be that my Norwegian genes
Have cursed me with a damned obesity;
Or karma?My lax diet? Iniquity?
Tell me, Muse, just what this problem means!
I fight with might and main this chronic fat,
That I lug about all night and daylight hours,
Grossing out my mirror after showers,
And so my day begins right off the bat.
Regretfully this pure demotic jest
May alienate some in my audience,
Or maybe make a new friend, what suspense:
But I don't know what to try, or what is best.
So languishing in lard is my poor state,
With nothing in my menu to me slake.
