Mind wallowing in gloom
With thoughts only of doom
On a rare lonely evening
My heart quivers with longing
For your presence.
That mirthful laugh
That throw-back of head
Nothing more was needed
To quell a little girl's fears
And dry off all her tears.
Today my son runs to me
Yelping in pain
I laugh at him
Throwing back my head
And I realize with a start
How much Iam
What you were.
That mirthful laugh
Gave me the strength
To laugh at the world
To laugh at myself
And walk on life's path
Unhindered by sorrows.
I hope and pray
That I pass on atleast
A bit of what you taught
To my own kin
Thank You Father
For the best lessons in life.
