My Fear Poem by chantelle ribeiro

My Fear

Rating: 5.0

This fear
It eats away my strength
It makes me a thing
going through the motions of life numbed
Afraid of my own shadow
I fear losing you
losing them
losing my mind
Around every corner
I cautiously tread tiptoeing
Mind never resting
sleep only a memory
Frightened of being left behind with guilt
with knowing I did not do enough
I close my eyes each night worried I pray
I talk to God
sometimes not knowing what to say
But in my mind
Lies my inner child
A child that believes in miracles
In goodness of souls
In love
And the hope that He is listening
Imagining His awesome arms
like the wings of His angels
enfolding me
