My Folly Poem by Fiona Burgess

My Folly

Heartbroken, I sit here in the dark
Wishing for the silence to come and take me
The fragments of my shattered soul surround me
Each shard holding a memory of a time gone before
And as I tried to gather them up
To put them back together
Those shards cut my hands
So now I sit here bleeding
The memories stuck on repeat
Play over and over
They torture me with their happiness
And remind me of my folly
Frozen eyes haunt my dreams
So now I never sleep
But even still they stare at me
Like mirrors of deceit they mock me
