My Gypsy Heart Poem by Alexander Thomas

My Gypsy Heart

I came riding through straight to you,
With thunder and lightning and ever so frightening,
Bringing the thrill of the chase but lacking in grace,
You put me firmly back in my place!

The naivety of youth can blind us from the truth,
I retreated to distant lands and roamed with lawless bands,
My heart was aching and my will was breaking,
I went far away but so I long again for that day!

I see you in mirror shards with your tarot cards,
I know you hear me reciting the bards!
My lost lover we have so much to discover,
Peel back the deck and our fortune let's uncover!

I travel down dreamy roads to find what the future bodes,
The mystics tighten their bind as the visions unwind,
They show me the way in the silver light of day,
Foresight is the gift that will bridge this rift…

My gypsy queen where have you been?
I'm your humble man,
We'll ride away in our caravan to make our own clan,
Our children will play long into the fading day,
As we show them the way!

My Romani heart is as the horse to the cart,
It will carry the load along the treacherous road,
To fields of gold and simple riches untold,
We'll go with bells ringing and children singing!
Long into the night to where the stars burn bright,
And there the fire we will ignite!
