My English Rose Poem by Alexander Thomas

My English Rose

My English rose,
Scent so seductive and sweet,
From dull Earth your beauty grows,
I kneel shrinking at your feet,
I clutch for a delicate petal,
To behold you in awe,
I will remove my leaden metal,
For it is you only I truly adore,
Don't prickle me with your thorn,
My heart would forever bleed,
For true love I have sworn,
To this quest you were the seed,
The lure of your luscious flower,
Has been the object of desire,
Driving me through my darkest hour,
The flame reaching higher and higher,
Your elegance I would forever cherish,
Let me tend to all your needs,
So many glorious days for us to relish,
I'll protect you from the weeds,
Yet I will not stifle you from the light,
You need breath and breadth to grow,
Together we can climb to an airy height,
And in resplendent colour you will glow!
