My Heart Has Forgotten Poem by Rainbow Cadenza

My Heart Has Forgotten

Rating: 4.0

My heart has forgotten the gentle rhythm of contentment,
It beats a lamentable tattoo of loneliness and loss,
Twice it has borne rejection,
First by you and now by me,
For I feel how it struggles,
Labours under its own weight,
And I cannot bear the heavy ballast of sadness that it carries throughout the day.
