My Heart's Story
I can't ignore the pain of desire
and have no story to tell
of a life we built on lies
and pretend that love here dwells
I can't fight to belong beside you
when my heart aches to say farewell
or continue in sleepless nights
waking no more than the shell
of a beauty that used to linger
inside your loveless spell
and I can't give myself to someone
without giving my heart as well.
