My Idiom, I Guess... - Poem by Jenn Kovel

I guess I believe in God
But
I really don't know
Who God is.
And I guess I love swimming
But I hate the water
Like I hate deep frost, slush road
Winter
But I guess I love snow
Falling from heaven
And I guess I love
That blue ribbon sky
But
I hate heights
And falling from them
Though I guess I like
Falling in love.
I need questions-
I guess I
Already have answers to
Nothing
Scares me more than
Fish but I guess
I'll cook them for you
And
I guess I don't know you
But that's okay,
Cause I don't really know
A whole lotta' anything

A rose bush has many a thorn
    Which can cause you harm,
But to avoid the sight and smell
    When you only dwell
On the unpleasantness of the moment
Is to deny Nature's (God if you like) intent
    To reward those who partake
Of life and its many joys (and mistakes) .
