My Inner Circe Poem by Renee Tidmore

My Inner Circe

I have a special area in my life
Very few people know of it
This place is reserved for special people
You may not even know if I place you there.

This place is reserved
Only special people are allowed
Most included are my family
Very few are friends.

It's not actually a defined space
However, it's difficult to get into this place
But easier to be removed
If I admit you, you are generally there until the end.

You see, this all a matter of trust
And I know I have a problem with that.
I am a kind and caring person
Who tends to trust when maybe I shouldn't.

The times that I have trusted, I have been burned.
Too many times I have thought someone was true
Only to find out that they had another agenda
And they wanted to play a game.

When I find someone who is actually true
Says what they mean, means what they say
I hold on for dear life and don't want to let go
Because you make me a better person, not blue.

So, you see,
This inner circle is my way
To pay tribute to you.
I just want you to stay.
