My Journey Poem by Lissa White

My Journey

My journey has taken me down roads not traveled by most
Surely you jest, not saying it to boast
I have had many good times in life
and many more times of worry and strife
Pain in my life has become second nature for me
But through hard work and preservation I am now free
I am an incredible person, full of love for the right one
I live life to the fullest with humor and fun
I care for those closest to me
A caring heart for all to see
I help those is need
My life is not geared toward greed
I help anyone I can
Sometimes others need help to stand
And I am here for them
I go far out on the limb
Some people have used me
People who has time and time again lied to me
But I call it a lesson learned
and I refuse to be bitter
because I am better then that
I am a woman who wears many hats
I love my job caring for those who need me
Giving my time and care to those less fortunate than me
It has opened my eyes and helped me to see
The wonderful person I have come to be
It wasn't easy to gain my sense of self back
Because in the past, there was so much I lack
But I have taken myself back
and I am happy for the first time in years
Casing out all the hurts and fears
To become a stronger more confident me
When I look in the mirror I like what I see
The biggest lesson I learned is I can stand on my own
I don't need a man, because now I have grown
I am no longer that scared little girl who couldn't be alone
Who married men because I was scared
It was sad because for them I only cared
Which was very unfair to them
But I have accepted my blame for that
Tried my best to right the wrong
Worked hard at it for so long
and moved on to a happier place
The past behind me and only a trace
A slower pace of life, out of the rat race
My journey is far from over
I have learned much during this lives trip
I have so much more to learn
Life is a series of lessons learned
I still have years left in my journey
New things to discover
New things to uncover
I look forward to the future
The past is far behind me
And I am now happy and free
To continue on my journey
In confidence and peace
Oh wonderful quiet, reflective release
My journey
