Ode To A Dude Poem by Lissa White

Ode To A Dude

He lured me in again with happily ever after
and a future full of love and laughter
I gave him a second chance
I repeated that dance
Once again he captured my heart with his many charms
When he took me in his arms
but soon after came the ' We don't click' speech to tear it all apart
He ended it again, before we could even start.
Running off to find 'the next best thing'
Never patient for what the next day could bring
He's always looking for that rush of an instant love connection
He needs to spend more time looking at his reflection
He will one day realize that love doesn't work that way
because life and love is not like a movie or a play
The love that truly last
Is the love that grows slow, not fast
It grows out of friendship, not lust
because as age sets in, lust turns to dust
And true love is about so much more.
It is being together for whatever is in store
Through good times and BAD
Happy times or sad.
But 'Two Date Dave' will likely be alone for the rest of his days
Unless he grows up and changes his ways
He may regret all those wasted years
And just maybe he will face his fears
Open up his hearts door
and gain so much more
There is nothing to gain doing the online scene
Spending night after night alone at his computer screen
Held captive in his bedroom
Chain smoking cigarettes in his darkened tomb
It is just one big game
Different online players, but the game is the same
It is such an emotional drain
Especially when his feelings are slain
And growing older and numb, as the years pass by
an 'Online Romeo ' continuing to try
Wasting 9 years of his life must not be enough
The pursuit of online love is rough
When he anxiously awaits by the computer and phone
How sad it is to be that alone
With no life outside of his own
Misery basically full blown
Held prisoner by the computer screen
Held down by an online queen
Hands shaking like a junkie needing his fix
Sitting home alone and not in the mix
Wondering why the phone doesn't ring
As he sits quietly alone doing his online thing
Plenty of Fish is what he will always crave
Addicted until he goes to his grave
Growing old and dying alone
His smile turning to stone
How sad for those left behind
Only to find
There was no one left behind
Because he will die alone
