My Last Trip Poem by Lisa Matthews

My Last Trip

I sink the blade deep into my skin
My life's such a sin
I don't know what else to do
I'm sorry, you don't want me to
I can't pretend
This pain must end
The pain of my life, gone to waste
I cut myself in haste
I'm scared now as blood drips
This is my last trip
Now I realise my life's all right
I need someone to hold me tight
My last breath I draw in
I never let you in
I want you to know
That you mean so much to me
But yet, I didn't see
I didn't know until I was gone
My life's not long
I cut it too short
I did it in retort
I wish I never left
