My Light Of Hope Poem by reshma joy

My Light Of Hope

Rating: 4.5

I was a lonely wanderer
In the darkness of the night
The black clouds stretched across the sky
They hid the moon so bright.

Feeling scared, lost and unsure,
Through the shadows I slowly crept.
Passing by those peacefull inns,
Where the other wanderers slept.

It was dark as the underworld
And the silence never ceased.
Fear crawled up through my skin,
The caution I felt never eased.

And then, amidst the closing darkness,
I see a shimmer of light.
A tiny glow of hoe swells in me.
And I gather my strength, my will, my might.

I walk towards the flicker of life,
Ignoring the darkness creeping now.
It's the only thing that keeps me going,
Prevents me from falling down.

At last I reach the source of hope,
And a surge of joy flows through me.
For, standing there with a lamp in his hand,
Was my beloved father, waiting for me.

Lovely narrative piece of poetry nicely penned with conviction. A good depiction of a loving father's care and protection well articulated with good rhyme scheme. Thanks for sharing Joy. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
