My Little Monster Poem by Steph Allen

My Little Monster

I'll never see you use the toilet
Never see you flush with pride

I'll never hear you call my name
Never hear you cry for me

I'll never listen to those first word read
The stories that you love so much

I'll never hand you money for treats
Can't wipe the sticky mess away

I can't bathe that knee you scraped
Nor kiss those tears dry

The first school tie - I won't fasten
The home work I can't help with

I'll miss your first girlfriend
No taxi service I'll provide

The candles I won't light
No presents to hide at Christmas

I'll miss so much of your precious life
Your loves, your family and you

But my little monster, I do love you
That's why its best that I'm not there

I do miss you my little monster x
