My Love Poem by ARIF AHAMMED

My Love

Enchanting silence of a frozen night,
Fading darkness of a deserted street lighted with yellowish street lamps.
These are the companions in my pursuit of writing a poem
No, not in writing but in forming of a poem.
A poem which will not be formed with petty ink
Rather, with the love rendering deep at my heart and with the ever freshening romanticism of first love.
My love for you is in no way ancient,
But I became a friend of you long before I became a friend of my own self.
All of a sudden you appeared in the whimsical horizon of my childish mind
From then I always felt the affectionate touch of your hands upon mine.
Past is that stormy childhood as now I am in unstoppable youth
Still feeling your charming presence in the confusing plane of slippery life.
When the alarming wave of failure tried to wash me out,
When the devastating cyclone of frustrating depression tried to blow me out
You kept me strangely calm and unbelievably determined.
Whenever the strangled pain makes my heart painfully heavy and my eyes sorrowfully wet
With your endless love, you have wiped away the drops of my tear.
You are the outburst of my living joy; you are the cry of my deadening agony
Not a heavenly angel of a youthful dream
But the playmate of my childhood and the love of my youth
Imperfect poetry of my ‘illiterate' mind.

I find it difficult to read and the words clumsily and too many with your depth less love
