My Lover's Departure Poem by Winnie Naluwooza

My Lover's Departure

"bye…."
He said tearfully
I gave no response
But a naughty wave
From a hand too heavy.

An ocean of tears flew
Right from my heart
And filled my eyes
Too cloudy that I could not see him depart.

With shaky hands
I fumbled to clear my eyes
Just to take a last glance
As he drove off uneasily.

Sorrow filled my nearly breaking heart.
Loneliness engulfed my body
For my minute without him seemed like eternity.
