My Man Poem by Donna Saphier

My Man

When he left, he took my heart
He knew that I would fall apart
I need him and I love him so
I did not want my man to go

I knew it was her down the road
Believe me 'yes' I had been told
Twelve months it had been going on
He used to say, I was the one

He'd packed his case and said goodbye
And I'm still asking questions why?
I gave him all the love I could
I loved him like a good wife should

What I did wrong, I'll never know
To make the man I love just go
The woman was the local ride
My crown was knocked, so was my pride

But I won't beg him to come back
In-fact I'd almost helped him pack
But love is blind, and I couldn't see
That he loved her, he didn't love me

I'm coping now, I'm getting strong
It still hasn't really been that long
Now I've heard they'll soon be wed
She'll repeat the words that I once said

But life is life, I'll forgive him never

And I'll always love my man forever.
