My Mom Always Said Poem by Randy McClave

My Mom Always Said

My mom always said to me
If they are in love just let them be
And if they are hurting no one leave them alone
Don't be happy when from hate you hear them moan.
Don't tell them how to live their own life
And don't ever inflict them with your worries or strife
Just because they are nothing like you
You have no right at all to tell them what to do.
Just think do you want them to be the way that you are
Maybe judgmental, racist and prejudice near and far
Do you have a right to tell them how to live
Is it always harder to take than it is to give.
We love our children no matter the shape of their faces
And we also love them no matter of their races
And let's not ever forget the Bible or a spiritual hymn
Let's not judge them.
If they are in love let them find their peace
They are not hurting you or anyone in the very least
Just because they are nothing like you or me or us
That gives you or no one the right to swear, judge, mock or cuss.
What if they were your brother or your sister
Would you slap upon them a blister,
Or would you disown them from the high heavens above
Just because they say, they are in love.
Let's love everyone as if they are a child
Let's scream it to the world out loud,
What if that is your son or even your daughter
Would you happily lead them to judgment and then to slaughter.
I remember this on my mother's dying days
How she always gave love it's greatest praise
Remember you don't judge or condemn them my friend
God, will judge us all in the very end.
