My Mother Poem by D.L. Aceves

My Mother

Rating: 5.0

When she was still around
My life was moving well,
But all that changed to where I now
Just haven't been myself.

When anyone would ask
If anything was wrong,
I'd simply make up something quick
So they would move along.

I realized far too late
What she had meant to me;
I didn't know until they came
And said she had to leave.

Now since she's been away,
I've had so much regret,
And though she's now a memory,
It's one I won't forget.
