My New Years Day Poem by David de Haas

My New Years Day

I sit here on New Year’s Day
On my own, watching a candle burn.
The wind blowing
The air…. Cold almost sad,
Like it knows how I feel.
I have nothing to look forward to
As a new year begins.

I found a 100 year old saying.
“You must give in order to receive”
Though i have nothing but a life to live!
I gave up all my dreams and used all my wishes to give some one a better life!
And I receive nothing in return!
Nothing but pain, loneliness and despair! !

WHAT have I done so wrong?
If not something wrong then why am I punished so? ! ? !
Or am I supposed to live on my own.
For the rest of my life.
Who knows?
