My pen won't write
And there's no light
I scratch it with all my might
But still it doesn't write!

I got me some white
Paper tonight
So I can write
But my pen doesn't write!

What a night!
This is my plight!
Pen! Pen! Just write
And bring me light!

My pen won't write
In the dark or in the light
And I can't see right
'Cause now is the night!

I scratch it with all my might
On top of my paper white
I'll try and I'll try it right
Until my pen again writes!
