My Perfect Self.. Poem by Piumi Perera

My Perfect Self..

It's alright,
You can ignore my presence,
It's okay,
You can look the other way.

I don't mind
If you find only cracks on me;
I won't blame you
For not trying to understand me.

Because…

My mind is stronger now than ever,
I need no one to keep me warm; I am warmer.
I seek no love from others -
I love myself better.
I may be a loner,
But never a loser.

You may find me in my pyjamas,
Under a starry sky, kissing the breeze,
Humming a tune and dancing on my own.
I am alone, but I know that I am strong.

I don't give a damn for worldly matters;
All I want is to keep my soul safe and pure,
From both demons and angels,
As all they have are wicked intentions.

My perfect self is only for myself,
A celebration of the journey I've embraced,
A testament to the strength within,
In the quiet, I find my grace.
