My Place Poem by Reagan Amenyo

My Place

The place from where I hail
The west of wests
West Africa; Ghana my land of many

We count our blessings
In multitudes of ones gains
What one has amassed over years of toil or theft

The place from where I hail
the politician, clergy, ordinary
All of the above
Have their stomach in their palm
the Palm drink in the kitchen
is for they that call the 'shots'

The place from where I hail
Sarkcesses successes ain't counted by the Shatta Movementeers and vice-versa
We are perhaps not a people nice to our own people

From this place from where I come
the fat assed damsel carries it all the 'treasure' of the highest bidder

At this place, you sleep when your pocket is asleep
This place I call my place?
