Destiny dealt us a
double blow,
laid you low,
then rendered me
alone,
left me the desire
you most cherished
to fulfill
i journeyed forth
many a mile
in the wee hrs
before first light
set out to the heights
to view the sunrise
on the snowy slopes & peaks
the sunrays fell,
Nature's glory at its best
all the hues
from pink to gold
a breathtaking sight
to behold
I visualised you
by my side
mind benumbed
thoughts frozen
my arm held tight
the fingers dug deep
your gasps of awe
glistening eyes
tear stained cheeks
but the face alight,
we gazed & gazed
as time stood still
We said farewell
to the range
Are you happy
I asked
again & again
My spirit surged
at your look of love
so warm, tender
& devoid of
total pain....
