My Prince - Poem by Sheldon Allen Saluta

I thought you were my destined Romeo
And wore a dress like a prince, full of cello
So, I wore like one, too
But you just broke my heart in two

I’m stepping out to the brutal portal
Of this castle of immortal, it’s crucial
And I’m leaving with tears
Coz you loved someone else, it clears

Is there other Romeo who’d love me?
That would be faithful? But I guess not to me
Who will unwrap this mourn?
No one could and was still unborn

I guess, I could be a better Juliet
And matured enough in love lines, but not yet
Coz my prince is missing
So I need to seek, like chasing

I think the subject is well thought, and presented with an effort to do good work. But I think the rhyming is a bit forced and it doesnt flow as smooth as your other poems. Keep writing.. (Report) Reply

Written from the view of the opposite gender gives an interesting flair to this piece - - the last stanza refers to a decision made because of being hurt. The verse may read better as presented prose but it has an innocence which over-rides this. Well done. (Report) Reply
