My Race Poem by adrienne sharpe

My Race

i dont barely get by; i maintain and survive
runnin through this recession with powerful stride
these feet that i use hardly cover the bills
but in the long run my dreams theyll fulfill
wont let my feet drag from memories or sorrows
they just keep runin faster to reach for tomorrow
no way am i allowin this past
determine my fate or push me in last
every barricade blockin 4 me 2 lose
i kick down like i got the power of zeus
every hurdle that rises in hope that i duck
i leap over with dreams never again gettin stuck
every runner i pass sellin quicker shortcuts
is only tryna sidetrack to a hustlin rut
this race ima win
thru my skillz free of sin
those who watch in good faith that know my life story
keep cheering on the sidelines, till i finish this race, my glory ;)
