My Reflection Poem by Kelly Carmicael

Who is this person I see
In the mirror
In the waters reflection
That girl can't possibly be me.

That girl in the mirror lies
She's sad
And lonely
I can see it in her eyes.

She has a smile on her face, reaching higher
But the way her smile shrinks
And blends into the sadness
Proves she's just a liar.

I try to help her smile
But she's depressed
There's no changing that
No, not by miles.

I almost feel bad,
I almost feel bad for her
But then I realize,
How can I, if I'm the one who's sad?
