My Refuge Poem by David Kinyanjui

My Refuge

When I feel as if things happen within my own right,
Remind me that I am only in favour of your sight.
When I think to myself that I am bright,
Grant me knowledge and wisdom, please shed on me the light.

When I toil tooth and claw,
Living the way I know how within the law,
Create in me the undying desire,
And the will to go on even when I tire.

When my heart feels beaten and weary,
My mind troubled, the eyes teary,
Grant me the mercy and the peace I seek dearly.
You are my refuge clearly!
