My Son Poem by Ghost Legend

My Son

I saw him, and I apologized
Knowing it was the last time
I'd ever see his eyes, or see him
Stand, upright and waiting.
I hugged him, yelling sorry
And no amount of crying
Could ever fix the gap
The absence
That was there and coming
I guess that's life
A massive apology
For all that's wrong inside
And nothing's ever done
About it
I live now to die
My clock's ticking downward
With no love, no trust,
No one to confide in,
And my son's gone.
