My Thoughts Right Now Poem by chris schwartz

My Thoughts Right Now

I stay silent,
In a world,
That can't understand.
Seal my lips,
Forbidding
The advertisement
Of My struggles,
That have kicked me
To the curb,
In the land of forgotten.
I didn't make your tabloid news
Though I should have
Would have given you
Reason,
To Smear that hundred dollar makeup job
On your face,
That can't hide the shallowness
Of your lonely.
There ain't a mirror
In this land
That could help you understand
How the heart of the wretched
Die lonely.
Yet it cracks away, slowly.
And leaves the frame
Made of plastic
Expect the Cobbler
To grind your shoes
Make them look brand new
Just like they were before.
You still feel the pain
On your arches
When you walk in them.
I don't wear shoes.
I walk on the beach,
Leaving patterns in the sand
Beneath each of my toes.
Don't need to worry
When my shoes will
Wear out.
I have already worn them.
I have already scorned them.
I have already accepted them
As being just a part of me,
Too tired to fight,
And too worn to repair.
